A statement watch is every fashionista's secret weapon...

Just before Christmas, Yard (my favourite Dorset boutique - see my last post!) started stocking a gorgeous new range of vintage inspired fashion watches by Olivia Burton. It's fair to say that I quickly became quite obsessed with them, the main problem being which one to choose! All the watches are beautifully made with unique designs, but reasonably priced, ranging from £52 to £95.

The design duo behind Olivia Burton met on their first day at the London College of Fashion, and turned their love of vintage fashion, British heritage and catwalk trends into a luxurious line of watches when they couldn't find one that fulfilled their need for style. All their watches have elegant gold or rose gold cases and popular styles include the Big Dial, Colour Crush and Woodland. Some of them feature quirky illustrations or animal motifs, including pictures of butterflies, hummingbirds or bees.

Eventually I settled on the Big Dial Rose Gold Plated Watch with mink strap (£72). I loved the oversized face and the beautiful rose gold colour as despite these bold features it is a stunningly understated watch, wearable for any occasion. The leather strap is described as 'mink' but is more of an off-white.

The watches make lovely gifts, and as soon as they went on display at Yard people were snapping them up for Christmas presents. The range quickly sold out and it became quite stressful advising customers and hoping they wouldn't pick the one I had chosen! Luckily I had dropped hints to Mr Dorset Fashionista and he had put one aside without me knowing. At one point it was suggested that I may have hidden the one I wanted in a drawer in the shop so that no one could buy it, but even I  wouldn't go as far as this, although it could be a good idea for another time....

A new collection of Olivia Burton watches has just arrived at Yard featuring some new designs which are pictured below. I can't wait to see them! Do you think it would be over the top to have another one in a different colour? Am liking the look of the one with the navy strap. To co- ordinate with different things in my wardrobe, obviously.....

And finishing with an outfit from earlier in the week (no other outfits this week as I've been living in my gym kit).

  1. Oh that pink jumper is stunning - perfect colour on you too! Also I'm loving those watches and I thought they'd be much more expensive than that. Nice find! Ax

  2. Love these watches, I'm currently on the hunt for a new watch to help me a) start being on time and b) update my essentials to try and perk up a miserable January so this is yet another reason I need to pop into Yard!
