Autumn Essential: The Sweatshirt

The sweatshirt has become such a staple in my wardrobe over the last year and is the perfect piece to take you through autumn to winter. The first one that I invested in was a basic grey Topshop sweater, and I still think these are the most versatile - I have worn mine so much with everything from boyfriend jeans to full midi skirts. Here is the latest version in grey from Topshop, I think its actually the same one I bought last year:

Burnout Sweat £24

I also tried a logo sweater this summer and again have had so much wear out of it. This one from Whistles combines stripes and a logo - perfect and adds an edge to a dressed down look:

Striped Logo Sweat £75

There are some really lovely embellished sweaters around - I have liked this one from Karen Millen for ages, it's a little different with a sporty feel and woven shirt collar:

Embellished Sweatshirt £90

I've also had my eye on this one from Karen Millen, and it's now in the mid season sale, tempting!

Dot Print Sweat Was £75 Now £45

Another option is one of the many textured versions around that make a plain sweater a bit more interesting - I love this navy one from Mango:

Textured Sweat £34.99

Mango also has this fab checked sweater:

Check Sweater £34.99

For a dressier sweater I absolutely love the sheer sleeves and navy/black combo of this stylish one from French Connection:

French Connection Ditton Sweatshirt £47

And if you prefer a bolder colour, there are lots of brighter sweatshirts around - my fave is this canary yellow one from Hush:

Dolman Sloppy Joe £40

I get the most wear out of plain/neutral ones though, so my update for this season is a gorgeous pale pink one by American Vintage at Yard. They sold out super fast when they first came into the shop in July, but they are back in stock again in the pink and charcoal grey. I wore it this weekend to my Mums for a big family Sunday lunch, love the slouchy fit, and can't wait to wear it with my Hush harems amongst other things!

  3. It is nippy and my J Crew sweatshirt will be out over the weekend. I do love that Whistles striped logo one every time you feature it. X

  4. I have a £3.99 one from H&M which I got last spring but I would like a longer one if I'm honest although it's great for layering x

  7. After years of ignoring them, I just love them. I managed to grab Zoe Karrsen in TK Maxx a few weeks ago, I'm thrilled with it.
